The brief
Tidepool turns sensor readings from the sea into charts for scientists and coastal councils. Five product teams were building five different buttons.
They wanted one system that scientists and developers would both trust.
What I did
I audited every screen, kept what was consistent, and turned the rest into sixty documented components with a single token file for colour, type and spacing.
Engineers and designers reviewed each component together, so the code and the design files never drifted apart.
What changed
New screens now take days instead of weeks, and the accessibility audit passed on the first attempt.
The system has a public changelog, and the teams add to it without needing me.
