read only
Most colour palettes fail in month three, when someone needs a colour that is not in the palette. A short system survives because everyone remembers it.
Give every colour a job
Ground, surface, ink, muted ink, line, and one accent. That is enough for almost any interface.
Test it in grey
Before adding the accent, check that the layout works in greys. If it does, the accent will only make it clearer.
