Why I still sketch on paper first
Ten bad ideas on paper cost nothing. One bad idea in a design file costs an afternoon.

read only
I open a sketchbook before I open any software. It is slower for about twenty minutes, then faster for the rest of the project.
Paper is fast in the right way
On paper you cannot fiddle with pixels, so you stay on the idea. I draw the screen five ways, pick two, and only then move to the computer.
What I keep
Every project ends with a photo of the sketch that started it, pinned to the case study. Clients like seeing where an idea came from.

Colour
A colour system you can explain in one minute
Six colours, each with a job. If you cannot say the job out loud, cut the colour.

Mobile
Designing for the thumb, not the mouse
Where thumbs actually reach, and what that means for buttons, menus and forms.
